The Debate – Saudi Belligerence

PRESS TV – At a time of upheaval in the Middle East – be it Bahrain, Syria, Yemen, Iraq – one country figures prominently. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. While the US and many Western governments consider the kingdom a strategic ally and key to regional stability, others are more skeptical. From its more aggressive military involvement in regional states, to its espousing of the Wahhabi/Salafist ideology which has led to the rise of terrorist groups like the Al-Qaeda and Daesh, Saudi policies have lately come under criticism.

In this edition of The Debate, we take a closer look at the role Saudi Arabia is playing in a volatile Middle East, and what its policies mean for the region.
